News, Pictures and Fun from the Oliver Community Garden Society

Oliver is competing in the 2011 Communities in Bloom Competition. The judges arrive on Tuesday, July 19th and will be touring Oliver on Wednesday, July 20th including a stop at the Community Garden.

Oliver received 4 out of 5 blooms in the 2010 competition and co-chairs Betty Lou Bahnsen Trimmer and Beth Garrish have been working hard to make sure we win that 5th bloom this year!

We will be having a weeding party on the morning of Sunday, July 17th from 9:30 a.m. – 11 a.m. to make sure the gardens are looking their best. Please come and join us – many hands make light work! If you can’t attend Sunday morning, please try to find some time to stop by before the 19th and pull a few weeds.

Lets show the judges what amazing things we in Oliver can do when we work together!

Thanks!
Heather

    Great work everybody.

Just wanted to let you all know that Communities in Bloom also just finished their booklet ‘Waterwise Gardening for Home and Small Acreage Owners of the Oliver Area’.

It’s available for free download at the Town of Oliver http://www.oliver.ca under water conservation, or at RDOS website, http://www.rdos.bc.ca.

Enjoy reading about gardening with drought tolerant plants, and learning about water conservation methods for the lawn.

    Happy reading,
    Paula Rodriguez de la Vega
